CampusSpecificURLsCampus-specific display of URLs on the Find It menuThe ERIC2 Task Group has devised a new method of displaying URLs from bibliographic records on the Find It menu on a campus-specific basis when an online resource is not available through the SFX Knowledge Base. Using this method, catalogers can cause a URL to display on the Find It menu for a title by placing their 2-letter campus code in $7 of the appropriate 856 or 956 field in the bibliographic record. SFX will read the code(s) and display the URL on the Find It menu for the specified campus(es) only. The set up has been tested in the Test catalog and has now been moved to the Live catalog. Now that the functionality is active, you may see unwanted URLs appearing on your Find It menus. At the time of conversion to Aleph, 2-letter campus codes were added to 856 $7 to identify campuses that had that URL in their catalog records. If those codes were not deleted when access to a resource was discontinued, then the URLs will display on the Find It menu in error. If you see a URL displaying for a resource to which your campus does not have access, please contact the database maintenance person on your campus. He or she can simply delete the 2-letter code to prevent display of the URL on your campus’ Find It menu. One advantage of accessing these URLs via the Find It menu is that they may be proxied for off-campus access. To set up proxying for a domain, your campus E-Content contact can submit a request through the E-Content Report Form. Please note:
